Senior and Junior Companies
The Senior and Junior Drama Companies will work as professional performance ensembles.
Students who would like to audition for the plays should submit an expression of interest when the information about the play is sent to you. You would then attend an audition workshop for casting.
Selected Scenes
This class is for actors to develop skills in working with scripts and to focus on effective and healthy characterised vocal delivery. Exploring professional acting techniques, this class aims to help students develop truthful, dynamic performances. Techniques will be applicable to finding truth within both stage and screen scripts. Students may be selected to perform scenes in a Drama Soirees.
Self-Devised Theatre Performance
Within this class students will:
- lean how to devise and perform in a style of theatre
- develop skill in voice, movement and characterization skills
- deepen their understanding of the dramatic elements
- experience being a part of a professional mini productions to be incorporated into soirees for an audience.
- develop interpersonal skills as part of working in an ensemble
- develop understanding and instinct for stagecraft and blocking
Theatre Sports
This class is a chance for students to explore elements of an actor’s craft, including:
- Stage Presence
- Improvisation, and Making and Accepting Offers
- Creating Characters
- Believability, Conviction and ‘Being in The Moment’
- Committing to Choices
- Imagination and ‘Sense of Play’
While focused primarily on Improvisation, the class may involve devised performances and use of simple scripts.
Acting for film - TV skills
This is an extremely practical class where students will learn techniques for how to work behind and in front of the camera and how to create a dramatic parody – think parodies of Bridgerton, Murder Mysteries, soap operas, late night talk shows.
Students will be divided into groups for their film making roles e.g. writers, directors, editors, actors. You will aim to make a short episode parodying a TV series. Here we will cover:
- Screen acting technique
- Audition technique
- Hitting your mark
- Creating an inner life
- Writing an episode for film/tv
- Workshop scripts
- Creating a Character arc
- Creating a script blueprint
- Directing and editing episodes
- Journey of the character both as a performer and a writer
- Learning to work as a production team and develop knowledge for all of the film making roles.
